Bibliomaniac

Bibliomaniac by Robin Ince (2022 Atlantic Books hardcover 312pp)

The concept of this book is quite simple – when a global tour was postponed due to the pandemic, UK comedian, radio presenter, podcaster and author Robin Ince decided to set out on his own tour of UK bookshops.

He visits over 100 shops in all corners of the country and describes what he finds - the towns, the people and of course all the books he just feels compelled to buy because of his self-diagnosed ‘Bibliomania’. As he hauls his ever-growing stash of books around on public transport we go off on tangents about the books, the authors and just about everything else that comes into Ince’s mind at the time.

If you’ve read his previous books or heard him speak before, you’ll know how witty, funny and self-effacing that Ince can be. He’s on top form in this work and I found it a most enjoyable travelogue with the added extra of being about something I love, namely books.

Not much else to say about it really, it’s a fast easy read and if books and travel are your thing, you’ll lap it up.
